What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swim Instructor position at YWCA Central Maine?
YWCA Central Maine is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor for our location in Lewiston, ME. The Swim Instructor plays a significant role in the overall success and safety of YWCA Aquatic Department’s program activities. The swim instructor position reports to the Aquatic Director. The position is part-time, 10-20 hours a week.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Teach swim lessons to children from ages 6 months old to 12 years old
- Has knowledge of basic swim mechanics and experience with small group instruction
- Excellent client service and interpersonal skills
- Enjoys working with children
- Ability to follow oral and written directions
- Prioritized water safety
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a team member
- Must be able to ensure compliance with YWCA safety standards, policies and procedures as needed especially important COVID protocols including maintaining the cleanliness of the pool area.
Qualifications:
- American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard with CPR for the Professional Rescuer
- Competitive swimming experience preferred
