TITLE: Family Violence Center Shelter Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Family Violence Center Shelter Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt Salaried
POSITION SUMMARY
The Shelter Coordinator will work under the guidance of the Shelter Manager to develop programs, assist with day-to-day program operations. Shelter Coordinator will provide direct and indirect services to clients and serve as liaison to clients and staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide support to the Shelter Manager to ensure consistency and compliance of program’s policies and certification.
- Assist the Shelter Manager with grant reporting, data input, time records and other documentation as needed.
- Provide support to Shelter Manager to represent the program and agency at staff meetings and in-service trainings as needed.
- Provide support to case manager specifically administrative duties and supportive services to in-shelter clients.
- Conduct client intake procedures and shelter policy orientation for new clients.
- Provide appropriate referrals to clients who are not eligible for shelter or seeking other assistance.
- Provide crisis intervention and manage on-call responsibilities for in-shelter clients and crisis line callers.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge and skills at a level typically acquired through obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or closely related field or four or more years’ related experience is required.
- One-year related experience in the human services field with administrative responsibilities.
- Complete ACADV Certification training within specified timeframe.
- Must be able to successfully complete a criminal background check including a CA/N clearance through Alabama Department of Human Resources.
- Must have valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and personal vehicle insurance.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This is a full-time position. On-call responsibilities are required. Standard hours of work are Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. or its equivalent, and evenings and/or weekends as required to participate in various events. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during core agency operational hours of Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Required to work primarily in a congregant setting which provides urgent shelter for victims of domestic violence.
- Role includes use of a computer and standard office equipment, sitting for periods of time at a desk, frequent movement throughout the facility, which may include carrying objects up to 20lbs.
