Nature of Work
Circulation Duties and Responsibilities:
Checks materials in and out; handles fees and fines; issues library cards; assists patrons with their needs; responds to complaints; assists with library services as practiced in public libraries; collects statistics; develops, conducts and records virtual programming (i.e. story time, crafts, robotics, STEAM programming and emerging technology); shelves books and materials; unpacks and packs boxes of books returned from or to be returned to other library agencies; updates computer records on library materials and orders as needed; organizes and conducts library and activities; may promote public library services to the local community; may be assigned to work in other library branches and divisions.
Administration Duties and Responsibilities:
Acts as the point of contact for all incoming calls for the Library District’s main number; answer basic reference questions.
Information Services (Computer Access/ILL/Homebound) Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists the public with computer access and in the periodicals area of the Information Services Division; instructs patrons in use of equipment (i.e. PCs, media equipment) and resources; maintains patron files and contact patrons when books are overdue; monitors the Home Bound patron records; may assist with PC classes; requests and fills library loans from other libraries.
Teen/Spanish Outreach Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists with teen or Spanish services as practiced in public libraries; assists with teen or Spanish activities and materials; organizes and conducts library tours and activities and programming for teens and Spanish outreach; coordinates special events for Teens or Spanish speakers.
Youth Services Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists with Youth Services activities and materials; assists with purchasing materials for the library; collects statistics and enter the information on database; responsible in updating the branch calendar; coordinates special events for Youth (i.e. Summer Reading Program, Weeding and Library tours); maintains automated and manual files; may provide coverage in other divisions within the Library Branch; regular and reliable attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education
High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND one (1) year of experience performing clerical duties, and customer services; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; must possess or have the ability to obtain a fingerprint Clearance Card; requires successful completion of a background check.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: Yuma County and Department policies and procedures and functions; techniques of library operations; the Dewey Decimal System; children’s services as practiced in public libraries; books and authors; circulation functions appropriate to branch library and circulation procedures
Skill in: using office machines, and automated systems; business English, spelling and arithmetic; providing effective customer-oriented service; handling irate patrons and tense situations; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public; communicating verbally and in writing; following written instructions.
Ability to: effectively respond to phone calls, emails and complaints in a timely manner; plan, prioritizes, manages and responds to multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment; ability to use modern office equipment and computers; ability to communicate effectively verbally and written; ability to lift up to 40 lbs; perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking and 20% standing. Working at a computer monitor for extended periods required. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment and may have risk of exposure to communicable diseases.

Plan Option 1: Preferred Provider Option A (PPO) or PPO A 1100 deductible. Employees who participate in the "Wellness Incentive" will receive a $30 monthly premium reduction by completing three steps.
Plan Option 2: Preferred Provider Option B (PPO) or PPO B 1,500 deductible. Employees who participate in the "Wellness Incentive" will receive a $30 monthly premium reduction by completing three steps.
Plan Option 3: High Deductible High Plan - Health Savings Account (HDHP-HSA) with a 1700 deductible. Employees who participate in the “ Wellness Incentive” will receive a $30 monthly premium reduction by completing three steps.
Employer contributes a total of $800.04 to employees Health Savings Account. If employees select Employee only and participate in the “ Wellness Incentive” employees can receive up to 360.00 contribution to a Limited Purpose FSA card to be used for medical or dental purposes.
Southwest Service Administrator (SSA) Mexico PPO Health Plan: SSA is available to employees who are enrolled in YCEBT Medical PPO Plan A and PPO Plan B. The SSA Plan pays 100% of hospital, medical, laboratory and prescription drug benefits, to a maximum of $5,000 per person per calendar year ($10,000 for two or more family members).
