Schedule: 7:30-9:00 & 1-5:30
(Additional hours for meetings, curriculum planning, trainings, and full day programs when school is not in session)
Position Summary :
The program coordinator plays a crucial role in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children during before and after school hours, and full day programs. This position works closely with the Executive Director of Youth Zone to ensure the program runs smoothly and meets the needs of both children and families.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and supervision of daily program activities, ensuring they align with educational and recreational goals.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times, following established safety protocols.
- Transport students to and from school in Youth Zone van.
- Supervise students during program
- Monitor children's behavior and address issues promptly and appropriately.
- Create a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all children.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and other necessary documentation.
- Develop and distribute parent communications and handle parent inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Develop and implement curriculum educational and recreational activities that are age-appropriate and engaging.
- Assist with daily operations including setup, cleanup, and maintaining a safe environment.
- Contribute to the outreach efforts for our school age childcare program.
- Obtain minimum of 24 hours of professional development per year in a field related to children as required by DHS.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 21
- Fluent in Spanish or Portuguese Creole preferred
- Has at least an Associates Degree or sixty college credit hours, with eighteen of them in a field relating to education, child development, human services or recreation from an approved and accredited institution of higher education. Or holds a Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with school aged children.
- Minimum of 1 year of previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- First aid and CPR certification required (can be acquired once hired)
- Chauffeur's License (can be acquired once hired)
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 per hour
