What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Mentoring Network position at YOUTH SERVICES SYSTEM INC?
SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for promoting positive youth development and improving children’s lives by establishing mentoring relationships between volunteer mentors and children facing adversity. Responsibilities include strategic recruitment and retention of volunteers, training, screening for safety, program activities, consultation, and follow-up for the Youth Mentor Network of the Upper Ohio Valley.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recruit youth mentees and adult volunteer mentors.
- Ensure that volunteers are screened and oriented according to the program’s standards and the agency’s policies & procedures.
- Conduct program assessments, applicant interviews, and home evaluations, and develop case plans.
- Complete all required reports.
- Provide training, information, and support for match participants to assure a positive experience for mentees and mentors.
- Provide ongoing technical assistance, support, and supervision to families and volunteers.
- Coordinate and plan monthly activities with matches.
- Promote the program through outreach including public speaking, tabling events, and school, corporation, and community partner presentations.
- Apply child safety and risk management knowledge, policies, and procedures throughout all aspects of job function.
- Availability and willingness to work regular evenings and hours as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
Pay: $20.00 per hour

Education and Experience:
Requires Bachelor degree in human services, social services, nonprofit management or another related field. Prefers previous event planning and program development experience; Must understand child development and family dynamics; Must have flexibility in work hours; Must have valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance as required by law.
