Youth Care Workers play a vital role in supporting at-risk youth in a structured, safe, and caring residential environment. What You Will Be Doing (Core Responsibilities)
Daily Mentorship & Behavior Support
- Apply the Youth Home residential program model to manage youth behavior and actively teach social and life skills.
- Maintain predictable daily routines and uphold consistent behavior management expectations.
- Provide immediate, calm intervention for problematic behaviors and de-escalate crises when necessary.
- Support youth in their educational success, including establishing study routines, assisting with assignments, and ensuring school attendance.
Household & Community Care
- Supervise youth at all times to ensure physical and emotional safety during all daily activities.
- Prepare healthy, home-cooked meals and snacks following approved menus.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe living environment by completing daily household and cleaning duties.
- Transport youth to school, medical appointments, and recreational activities using Youth Home vehicles (must be confident driving in all types of weather, including winter commuting conditions).
Teamwork & Documentation
- Collaborate closely with teammates and supervisors to ensure smooth, seamless, and consistent care for each resident.
- Administer medications accurately according to strict policy guidelines and training.
- Complete daily documentation, incident reports, and shift logs accurately and on time before leaving your shift.
- Participate actively in staff meetings, training sessions, and ongoing professional development.
Compensation & Scheduling Details
Full-Time Position
- Hours: 40 hours per week guaranteed, with opportunities for overtime.
- Availability: Evenings and weekends required.
- Pay Structure:
- Starting at $15.00/hour
- $0.50/hour raise after 6 months of successful employment
- $0.50/hour raise after 1 year of successful employment
- $0.50/hour shift differential applied to all weekend and graveyard shifts
Part-Time Position
- Hours: Hours vary based on youth needs. Must be willing to be called in to cover shifts on short notice when available.
- Availability: As needed, though evenings and weekends are more common.
- Pay Structure: Identical starting wage, milestone raises, and shift differentials as the full-time track.
Position Requirements (What You Will Bring)
- Age: Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Background Clearness: Ability to successfully pass an FBI background check, Central Registry check, and have no DUI convictions or child abuse/neglect charges.
- Driving: Valid driver’s license, reliable personal transportation to get to work, and the confidence to safely transport youth in unfavorable/winter weather conditions.
- Consistency: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain firm boundaries and schedules.
- Mindset: A team-oriented attitude, a passion for working with high-needs youth, and a deep commitment to showing up reliably for both the youth and your team.
