What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Education Specialist position at Youth and Family Services?
Youth & Family Services is looking for a Community Education Specialist to serve as a member of our Clinical Team. We are a fast-growing nonprofit organization who works to provide support for children, youth, and families in our community. The Community Education Specialist’s primary responsibility is to provide group services, psychoeducation, case management, behavioral health rehabilitative services, coaching, mentoring, and other services as qualified and needed.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Gather intake information on referrals. Interview client and/or guardian and assess each client to include a psychological, social and educational perspective as appropriate for group participation, educational, and CARS clients.
- Complete all required paperwork to include obtaining signed parental permission for clinical client.
- Implement service plan and assist client with achieving treatment goals.
- Prepare and schedule staffing on each client as needed.
- Maintain accurate case files on each client; including progress notes, service plans, and assessment forms.
- Provide youth advocacy, tutoring, mentoring, case management, and behavioral rehab services on a group, individual, and family level.
- Assume the responsibility for personal development keeping updated on current knowledge, research, and techniques.
- Attend required workshops relevant to job description and complete required continuing education.
- Attend agency staff meetings and consultation as directed.
- Provide flexibility of schedule and location to accommodate clients as needed for their appointments in alignment with agency policy.
- If sessions are conducted on school property, do so under the direction and cooperation of the school staff in a manner that will not interfere with other major scholastic activities and classes.
- Maintain client confidentiality at all times to include case files, phone records, verbal communication and all information.
- Arrange schedule in order to deliver an ideal of 50% hours of direct client services per month. Variances in this number must be approved by the Clinical Coordinator or Operations Director.
- Attend speaking engagements to represent and educate the community regarding agency and clinical services as needed.
- Provide travel to clients as a matter of agency business only.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience completing comprehensive intakes
- Ability to effective speak in small or large-group settings
- Experience providing referral, advocacy, and case management services
- Bachelor’s Degree in Related Field Required
- CMII Certificate preferred or ability to acquire
