Youth & Family Counseling (YFC) is a nonprofit community-based outpatient mental health counseling center dedicated to making quality mental health care accessible to all. Our mission is to help individuals cope, heal, and thrive by offering professional counseling services to children, teens, and adults. YFC addresses a broad range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and more. Through need-based fee subsidies and co-locations in under-served areas of Lake County, Illinois, we ensure that low-income and under-insured families receive essential support. Role Description
Essential Functions:
- Deliver clinical services for the treatment of mental disorders.
Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with people of all ages.
Assess and diagnose clients.
Develop treatment plans that address symptom management and underlying problems to achieve target clinical outcomes.
Use clinical measurement tools to track client progress.
Identify issues that impede client progress and adjust treatment plan/approach/communication style as needed.
Engage families in the treatment of child and adolescent clients.
Coordinate care with primary care physician, referring professional and school as appropriate.
Provide case management as needed.
- Maintain caseload sufficient to meet or exceed session delivery expectations.
- Document medical necessity and client progress in accordance with YFC policies and assessment protocols.
- Obtain client pre-approvals when necessary.
- Manage clinical emergencies.
- Maintain ethical boundaries.
- Maintain self and surroundings that allow full engagement with clients on a consistent basis.
Other Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate professional communication that upholds YFC values with management, board, and peers including the timely communication for time both in and out of office, including vacations, holidays, illness, conferences, or personal commitments.
- With supervisor, set goals for professional development and participate in quarterly check-ins.
- Use supervision for clinical conceptualization, management of self, and to address clinical and administrative responsibilities.
- Attend and appropriately participate in weekly staff meetings and consult groups, deliver case presentations when requested/appropriate.
- Support credentialing and empanelment efforts.
- Participate in organizational planning.
- Support fundraising efforts and activities.
- Engage in and support work to recognize, acknowledge and celebrate diversity of culture and thought, both with clients and with teammates in the workplace,
- Act in accordance with YFC goals and values, including building trust, acting with integrity, treating both clients and co-workers with respect.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related field.
- Provisional license preferred.
Job Requirements:
- Work on-site and for a minimum of 2 evenings/week.
- Fluent use of digital technologies to manage data; document care; maximize productivity; and communicate.
