Job Summary
Position Summary:
The Youth Enrichment Project is seeking motivated and reliable Community Participation Support Staff to provide direct support to individuals in community-based settings. This position is 100% community-based and focuses on helping individuals engage in meaningful activities, build independence, and increase community involvement.
- Support participation in community outings, recreational activities, educational programs, and social events to promote inclusion and engagement
- Implement behavior management strategies tailored to each individual’s needs, utilizing techniques like positive reinforcement and communication supports such as American Sign Language when appropriate
- Collect and document data on progress toward individual goals, behavior patterns, medication administration (if applicable), and service delivery to ensure accurate records for team review
- Provide direct support during daily routines, including transportation in personal vehicles, ensuring safe driving practices and adherence to traffic laws
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, social workers, and other professionals to develop and modify person-centered care plans that reflect individual preferences and needs
- Assist with medication administration following prescribed protocols when trained and authorized to do so
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support in community settings
- Assist individuals with community integration and participation
- Support development of independent living and social skills
- Transport individuals to and from community activities
- Document services in accordance with program requirements
- Follow all ODP and agency policies and procedures
Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle
- Must be willing to use personal vehicle for transportation
- Mileage reimbursement provided (up to 30 miles per day)
- Must be able to pass required background checks
- Must complete all ODP-required training
- Must complete Community Participation Services training through MyODP within 30 days of hire
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently in community settings
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities
- Experience with community-based supports
- CPR/First Aid (or willing to obtain)
