Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Dental Treatment Coordinator / Insurance Coordinator/Scheduling Coordinator to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will manage patient insurance processes, verify coverage, and facilitate smooth treatment planning, answer phones, This role requires strong knowledge of dental insurance protocols to ensure accurate billing and excellent patient service. The coordinator will serve as a vital link between patients, providers, and insurance companies, ensuring efficient communication and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Duties
- Verify patient insurance benefits and coverage prior to treatment appointments using insurance portals and communication with carriers
- Explain treatment plans, financial policies, and insurance responsibilities to patients clearly and professionally
- Collect and process insurance information
- Submit claims electronically or manually while ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards for protected health information
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims to facilitate timely reimbursement
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation related to insurance claims and patient interactions
- Assist in scheduling appointments and coordinating treatment plans based on insurance approvals
- Stay updated on changes in managed care policies, coding requirements, and dental insurance regulations
Experience
- Prior experience in a dental office environment is necessary
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, dental records management
- Proven experience with insurance verification processes and claim submissions in a healthcare setting
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and confidentiality protocols
- Office experience with proficiency in dental or medical software systems is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with patients, insurance providers, and team members
