Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Child Care Assistant to join our creative early childhood education team. In this role, you will play a vital part in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children ages 6 months to 6 years. Your caring nature will support children's growth, development, and well-being while assisting lead teachers and caregivers in daily activities. Duties
- Support classroom activities by engaging children in age-appropriate play, learning exercises, and creative projects
- Assist with supervising children during indoor and outdoor activities to ensure safety at all times. We go outside daily, we can assist with obtaining appropriate outdoor gear.
- Help implement curriculum plans focused on childhood development, early education, and social skills
- Provide attentive care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, including feeding, diapering, and nap routines
- Support behavior management strategies to promote positive interactions and emotional regulation among children
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment
- Communicate effectively with parents or guardians about children's progress and daily experiences
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, babysitting, nannying or classroom settings is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices highly preferred.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required or willing to obtain upon hire. 6 hours of state mandated training, at your own pace online within 30 days of hire.
- State of Maine current background check required.
- Experience with infants, toddlers, and children with disabilities is a strong plus
- Ability to manage behavior effectively while demonstrating patience and empathy
- Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with colleagues and families
- Flexibility to adapt to changing routines and support various caregiving needs
