POSITION SUMMARY:

Assists in the operation of rope and other challenge course activities for the Islands Family YMCA Camp Venture. Ensures challenge course activities are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers' age and abilities. Assists and participates with camp programs and activities as directed by the Branch Director and Summer Camp Director.

In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assists in Challenge course operation.
2. Assists with execution of challenge course activities as planned by the Summer Camp Director.
3. Assists in ensuring that the highest level of safety and precautionary measures are in place and utilized.
4. Assists in teaching and monitoring proper use of equipment.
5. Assists with checking for properly fitted headgear for all participants.
6. Assists with checking of equipment for safety and needed repairs. Report needed repairs to Maintenance and Summer Camp Director.
7. Assists with cleaning and securing all equipment at the end of each session.
8. Assists with keeping the Challenge Course area clean.
9. Assists in maintaining program supplies.
10. Assists with keeping records on participants.
11. Assists with end of season inventory & packing of materials and supplies.
12. Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines as well as
13. Be available to participate and assist with camp programs and activities as directed by the Camp Director.

QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

1. Certification obtained within the past three (3) years from a recognized organization or certifying body for the type of activities offered or documented training and recent experience leading/facilitating the type of activities offered.
2. Six (6) months experience leading sports, recreation or challenge course activities preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
3. Valid ACCT Certification.
4. Must be 18 years or older.
