JOB LOCATION: Waukee Family YMCA
SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Weekday Mornings (9:30 AM to 12:00 PM), Weekday Evenings (after 4:30 PM), Weekends (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
PAY RANGE: $11.00 - $13.00/hour based on experience and availability
CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: April 29, 2026 - Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Instruct swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly.
   
2. Build effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; help them connect with each other and the YMCA. Engage parents in discussion around water safety.
3. Maintain attendance and skill accomplishment records for each participant.
   
4. Maintain teaching equipment and conduct routine checks to ensure participant safety. Organize and put away needed class equipment. Report any damaged equipment.
   
5. Maintain constant visual surveillance of participants in the water.
   
6. Train, supervise, and mentor new swim lesson instructors as assigned.
   
7. Convey information on aquatics programs and schedules and, as appropriate, refer students and parents to other programs.
   
8. Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.
   
9. Attend staff meetings and swim instructors in-services as scheduled.
10. Represent the YMCA as a Leader of Aquatics Safety committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all.
    
11. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person.
    
12. Demonstrate and support the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission
    statement and values.
