What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Chandler - Waterfront Director position at Young Men’s Christian Association of Greater...?
Description
YMCA Camp Chandler is located on the beautiful Lake Jordan. The waterfront area is the highlight of the summer camp program and hosts various activities ranging from swimming and paddling to sailing and boating. The Waterfront Director supervises YMCA Camp Chandler staff in the instruction and operation of canoeing, pedal boating, paddle boarding, fishing, sailing, war canoes, funyaks, swimming, blobbing and skiing. Camp Chandler owns and operates two boats as part of the summer aquatics program – a Ski Nautique for skiing, tubing, wakeboarding and knee-boarding and a Bentley tri-toon boat for large group boat rides, banana boating and tubing. The Waterfront Director supervises the operation and daily maintenance of these watercraft as well as all non-motorized boats and equipment. The swimming area is one of the highlights of our waterfront. Skilled swimmers can partake in the waterslides, rope swing, and jumping platform in deep water. Those swimmers wishing to be able to stand at any time also have a designated swimming area. These swimming areas, as well as all waterfront activity areas fall under the direct supervision of the Waterfront Director. Leadership, management skills, water safety knowledge and patience working with young staff members and campers of all ages are absolutely paramount. The waterfront area represents the highest level of safety risk in camp and must be properly supervised at all times. As Camp Chandler staff serve as lifeguards and activity instructors, the Waterfront Director must be able to work with these young people to ensure that campers and all participants have both an enjoyable and safe experience. Management of activities and various rental group schedules requires strong organization and supervisory skills.
