What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Chandler - Media Director position at Young Men’s Christian Association of Greater...?
Description
YMCA Camp Chandler is dedicated to ensuring that campers of all ages have a summer experience that changes their life. An invaluable element of this important process is giving the campers a tool to remember this experience for a lifetime. The task of immortalizing these moments for campers and parents falls on the shoulders of the Media Director – one staff member directly charged with connecting parents to daily camp life. Pictures from all camp activities are shared daily with the campers’ parents via the camp software and social media platforms so that parents can see exactly how much fun their children are having at camp. These pictures are accompanied with daily updates explaining the activities and night time programming. The Media Director must be able to capture these camp moments for all to see. In addition to the daily updates, the Media Director also compiles a fun and uplifting slideshow of pictures and video from the week to share with campers and parents at the end of each week. The slideshow is an integral part of each campers’ memorabilia collection and must fully exhibit the lively and adventurous atmosphere that surrounds a camper’s experience. In addition to capturing quips and clips, the Media Director also facilitates the daily distribution of all camper mail – emails, letters, and packages. The Media Director also assists the Camp Director in preparation for opening day and the closing ceremony. A great deal of organization is required to successfully juggle all the responsibilities of the Media Director position. The Camp Director relies on this person to also assist with the special needs of daily camp operation and other camp tasks as needed.
Qualifications
The Media Director must be 18 years old or older with photography experience and excellent computer and social media skills – video editing program knowledge and experience is a plus. The ability to work with programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Premiere, iMovie, etc. are essential. A copy of the slideshow must be uploaded to Camp Chandler’s YouTube page at the end of every session. This person must be very organized and successful with multi-tasking. Camp experience is not necessary, but is certainly a plus!
