Job Description:
Perform a variety of physical and chemical tests on Young Living Products using both instrumental and wet chemistry techniques.
Follow GLPs/GMPs to report test results and maintain records.
Operate, calibrate, maintain and test essential oil and essential oil infused products on simple lab equipment including, but not limited to analytical balances, pH meters, Disintegration Apparatus, and Auto Titrators.
Maintain a working knowledge of department SOPs, STMs, and DWIs.
Write/Review/Revise SOPs, STMs, and DWIs.
Write and update instrument SOPs and test methods.
Write, review, and execute simple and complex equipment qualifications.
Peer review testing data, notebooks, and other laboratory documentation for completeness and accuracy.
Communicate with management and other team members regarding the status of product testing and special projects.
Perform out of specification investigations.
Operate, calibrate, maintain, and test samples on complex lab equipment including, but not limited to:
High Performance Liquid Chromatography/Ultra High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC/UHPLC),
Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectroscopy, Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-MS, ICP-OES),
Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR)
Gas Chromatography Flame Ionized Detection (GC-FID) for Essential Oils and Essential Oils Infused Young Living Products.
Train other analysts on instrumentation, processes, and documentation.
Perform method validation and verifications.
Assign and direct tasks of direct reports
Provide input on budget requests and equipment purchases
Position supervises 2 chemists.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of physical-chemical analysis of raw and finished essential oils.
Knowledge of physical-chemical analysis of essential oil infused personal care and dietary products.
Knowledge of pH, specific gravity, fill tolerance, and organoleptic analysis.
Knowledge of Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR).
Knowledge of High-Performance Liquid Chromatography/Ultra High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC/UHPLC).
Knowledge of Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectroscopy (ICP-MS) and Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES).
Knowledge of Gas Chromatography Flame Ionized Detection (GC-FID) for Essential Oils, personal Care and dietary products.
Knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), Good Documentation Practices (GDPs) and Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs) to report test results.
Knowledge of Maintenance and Troubleshooting for advanced analytical equipment.
Work Location: 142 E. 3450 N., Spanish Fork, UT 84660
Hours of work: Usually 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
