About Young Automotive
Young Automotive has been serving Door County since 1969. We are a family-owned shop built on trust, integrity, and doing the job right the first time. We operate through clear systems, defined roles, and high standards — and we back our work with an industry-leading 3-year/36,000-mile warranty. If you want to be part of a team that runs with discipline and purpose, this is it.
About the Role
A Service Advisor at Young Automotive is not an order-taker. You are the customer's guide and the shop's first point of contact — the person who listens, asks the right questions, documents concerns accurately, and communicates solutions the customer can trust. You are the connection between the customer and the technician, and that partnership is what drives every repair order.
This is a fast-moving, people-forward role. You will open vehicles, manage drop-offs, present estimates, follow up on approvals, track job status throughout the day, and deliver vehicles with clear explanations of completed work. The customer's experience depends heavily on you — from the moment they arrive to the moment they drive away.
What You'll Do
- Greet customers, listen to their concerns, and document vehicle complaints accurately on the repair order
- Manage drop-off vehicles as a high priority — communicate early, communicate often, and control the timeline before customers have to ask
- Build repair orders that give technicians everything they need to inspect and perform the job correctly
- Present estimates clearly and honestly, and follow up on open approvals with a sense of urgency
- Track job progress throughout the day and proactively update customers — don't wait for them to call you
- Coordinate with technicians and dispatch to keep the workflow moving and priorities in the right order
- Capture the best method of contact for each customer and use it
- Deliver completed vehicles and walk customers through the work that was done
- Handle inbound calls and appointment scheduling
- Maintain accurate repair order records in shop management software
How We Operate
We run on systems, not guesswork. We track ARO, close ratio, gross profit per hour, tech efficiency, and cancellations — weekly, every week. You will know those numbers, understand what they mean, and contribute to hitting the targets behind them. We do not run this shop on gut feelings; we run it on data. If that resonates with you, keep reading.
We also expect follow-through. If you say you'll call a customer by noon, you call by noon. If a job stalls, you flag it — you don't let it sit. We succeed together, and that means everyone does their part in keeping the shop moving.
Who You Are
You bring energy and optimism to every customer interaction. You're comfortable meeting new people, handling a busy day with multiple open tickets, and shifting gears when priorities change. You communicate with confidence, but you listen first.
You also respect process. You document things right the first time, follow through on what you commit to, and understand that the details on a repair order matter to the technician in the bay and to the customer waiting for their car.
Culture fit matters here. Specifically, we're looking for someone who:
- Communicates honestly and directly, with warmth and professionalism
- Gets energy from helping people — this work doesn't drain you, it fuels you
- Takes ownership without being asked
- Operates well within a team system and can manage their own lane simultaneously
- Stays steady under pressure — because some days are going to be full
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a service advisor in an automotive repair or dealership environment
- Working knowledge of the automotive industry — you understand what you're recommending
- Familiarity with Tekmetric, OktoRocket, or Shop Hero is a plus — we can train the right person on software
