About the Company
We are seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead the launch and ongoing operations of a brand-new behavioral health treatment center in Colorado. This is a unique opportunity for a proven leader with deep knowledge of Colorado's behavioral health system to build a high-quality continuum of care offering Residential, Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), Outpatient (OP), and Transitional Living services.
About the Role
The ideal candidate is an experienced behavioral health executive with extensive operational leadership experience, a thorough understanding of Colorado behavioral health licensing, Medicaid regulations, and state compliance requirements, and an established network of relationships with referral sources, payers, regulators, and community stakeholders throughout Colorado.
Responsibilities
- Lead the successful opening and day-to-day operations of a multi-level behavioral health treatment center.
- Oversee Residential, PHP, IOP, OP, and Transitional Living programs while ensuring exceptional patient care and operational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with Colorado licensing requirements, Medicaid regulations, accreditation standards, and all applicable federal and state regulations.
- Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and clinical support systems that drive quality outcomes and sustainable growth.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing leadership and multidisciplinary teams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with state agencies, referral partners, hospitals, managed care organizations, and community stakeholders across Colorado.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to support business development, program expansion, and strategic initiatives.
- Monitor financial performance, budgeting, staffing, census growth, and key operational metrics.
- Foster a culture centered on clinical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and patient-focused care.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Behavioral Health, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of executive or senior operational leadership experience in behavioral health, mental health, or substance use treatment.
- Extensive knowledge of the Colorado behavioral health system, including licensing requirements, Medicaid policies, reimbursement structures, and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated experience opening, leading, or growing behavioral health treatment programs is highly preferred.
- Established professional relationships with key stakeholders, referral partners, healthcare systems, and behavioral health organizations throughout Colorado.
- Proven success in program development, operational leadership, strategic planning, financial management, and team development.
- Strong knowledge of accreditation standards such as Joint Commission and/or CARF is preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Pay range and compensation package
$130,000 - $150,000
