ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Program Manager, Water Efficiency and Billing, is responsible for providing water and wastewater systems engineering analysis and development of strategies for the optimization of system performance. Compiles bi-monthly water and wastewater data for billings to the local municipalities. Leads or provides technical support on projects. Implements and maintains flow monitoring program, ensuring appropriate data capture, analysis and documentation. Provides operations systems analysis.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Maintains system to conduct technical analysis using data collected from SCADA, flow monitoring population projections and other data sources.
- Implements and maintains flow monitoring programs in support of Branch and Department initiatives.
- Provides technical support and analysis on water and wastewater demands and program initiatives.
- Monitors wastewater flow, potable water supplies and demand requirements. Analyzes data and performance metrics, dashboards, trends and provides projections of relevant water and wastewater volumes to the Program Manager.
- Processes, validates and analyzes flow volume data and compiles water and wastewater data for bi-monthly billings to local municipalities.
- Plans, develops, and implements projects including strategy development and investigation of system performance and non-revenue water reduction. Provides engineering recommendations.
- Liaises with internal teams, municipalities and external partners including consultants/contractors, funding agencies and members of the public. Prepares and delivers presentations, technical reports and council reports.
- Provides support and participates in public education and promotional events, as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Successful completion of a University Degree in Engineering.
- Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) in good standing with the Professional Engineers Ontario.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience (inclusive of EIT experience) in the approvals, design, construction techniques or operating processes of water and wastewater systems, data management and statistical analysis.
- Thorough working knowledge of engineering principles and standards involved in the planning and design of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Knowledge of statistics for the analysis of water and wastewater systems.
- Knowledge of municipal water and wastewater systems and engineering in an urban growth environment.
- Strong working knowledge with Excel, Power BI, GIS, and SCADA.
- Knowledge of all relevant Legislation, Regulations, By-laws and Standards relating to water resources and environmental protection
- Working knowledge of hydraulic modelling techniques for water and wastewater systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, project/time management, organizational, analytical, written and oral communication, and problem-solving skills.
