What You'll Do
As a Drywall Finisher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality drywall finishing on commercial renovation projects while maintaining York Construction's standards for safety and workmanship.
Responsibilities include:
- Tape drywall joints and apply joint compound.
- Finish drywall to Levels 3, 4, and 5 as required by project specifications.
- Apply multiple coats of mud and sand surfaces to achieve a smooth, paint-ready finish.
- Repair damaged drywall, cracks, holes, and water-damaged surfaces.
- Match existing textures and apply new textures when required.
- Prepare surfaces for primer and paint.
- Install corner bead, trim, and other drywall accessories.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Read project drawings and follow project specifications.
- Work safely in occupied healthcare, educational, and commercial facilities while minimizing disruption to building occupants.
- Communicate effectively with superintendents and other trades to keep projects on schedule.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Experience as a drywall finisher in commercial construction.
- Ability to finish drywall to professional commercial standards.
- Experience with hand finishing and finishing tools.
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
- Ability to pass background checks and drug tests.
- Reliable transportation to projects throughout the Galveston and Houston area.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week, including overtime when required.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
- Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in occupied healthcare, laboratory, educational, or commercial facilities.
- Experience matching existing textures and performing seamless drywall repairs.
- Familiarity with Level 5 finish requirements.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
