Position Summary
DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Volunteer Engagement provides strategic leadership and management of the Spartan Volunteer Network (SVN) and campus-wide community engagement initiatives within the Division of Student Life and Success. The Director of Volunteer Engagement develops, implements, and assesses high-impact volunteer and civic engagement opportunities that foster student learning, leadership development, and community impact, while maintaining strong partnerships with campus and community stakeholders.

In alignment with the mission, values, and initiatives of York College and the Division of Student Life and Success, the Director of Volunteer Engagement will strategically identify, support, promote, and expand volunteer engagement opportunities that make a positive impact throughout the York County, PA region and foster student learning, engagement, leadership development, and civic responsibility.
The Director will collaborate closely with the Center for Community Engagement and other campus partners to advance institutional priorities related to community engagement and student success.Essential Functions
- Strategic Leadership & Program Management – 50%
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Spartan Volunteer Network (SVN), including vision-setting, program development, and assessment of impact
- Coordinate and execute large-scale, campus-wide volunteer initiatives, including Spartan Serve (fall) and Spartan Green (spring)
- Oversee and manage signature programs, including but not limited to Generations of Hope (GOH), Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), and co-coordinate Impact York and Eisenhart Scholars
- Promote student learning, engagement, leadership development, and civic responsibility through intentional program design and collaboration with campus partners
- Partnership Development & Student Staff Supervision – 25%
- Develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with the Center for Community Engagement (CCE), campus departments, community organizations, and regional stakeholders to expand engagement opportunities
- Supervise and develop student staff, including a Graduate Scholar and Student Project Coordinators, supporting leadership development and program execution
- Operations, Technology & Assessment – 20%
- Manage the SVN Portal and related technology platforms, including oversight of community partner engagement, opportunity postings, and student participation tracking
- Assess student learning outcomes, program effectiveness, and engagement data to inform continuous improvement
- Manage administrative responsibilities, including program budgets, volunteer compliance/clearances, and reporting
- Other Duties as Assigned – 5%
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the AVP/VP Student Life and Success
- Strategic Leadership & Program Management – 50%
Experience and Education Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in volunteer engagement, student affairs, community engagement, or related field
- Demonstrated experience supervising student staff and/or graduate assistants preferred
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop student staff and volunteers while managing multiple programs and large-scale initiatives
- Strong relationship-building, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across campus departments and with community partners
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, assess outcomes, and use data to inform decision-making
- Proficiency with technology platforms, databases, or engagement systems
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, including occasional evening and weekend commitments
