Duties
- Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi, including handrolls, ensuring freshness and presentation standards are met consistently
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout all stages of food preparation and service
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to develop innovative menu items that reflect authentic Japanese flavors and modern trends
- Manage ingredient inventory, monitor stock levels, and ensure proper storage of perishable items
- Assist with menu planning by suggesting new recipes and seasonal offerings based on customer preferences and ingredient availability
- Ensure efficient food preparation processes to minimize waste and maximize quality during busy service hours
- Provide excellent food handling and customer service by engaging with guests when appropriate, explaining menu options, and accommodating dietary needs
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role within a restaurant or fine dining setting
- Strong knife skills with the ability to prepare ingredients precisely and efficiently
- Extensive knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, including rice cooking, fish slicing, and handroll assembly
- Experience with menu planning, food presentation, and culinary innovation in Japanese cuisine
- Familiarity with food safety regulations, proper food handling practices, and sanitation standards
- Background in the food industry with restaurant experience emphasizing quality service and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus on quality and consistency
