Position Overview
As a Group Assistant, you’ll work side-by-side with Group Leaders to deliver enriching activities that strengthen academics, spark creativity, and build leadership skills. You’ll play an essential role in creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive space where students can thrive.
Quick Facts
Start Date: Immediate
End Date: June 2026 (with potential summer opportunities)
Pay Rate: $18–$21/hour (part-time, non-exempt)
Schedule: Minimum of 3 weekdays, typically 1:30–6:30 PM (Wednesdays start at 1:15 PM)
Weekly Hours: 22–25 hours, based on availability
Locations: Schools in Richmond, San Pablo, El Sobrante, and Oakland (see map of schools at http://map.ymcayscholars.org)

Your Impact
As a Group Assistant, you will:
- Support Group Leaders in leading classrooms of elementary and middle school students
- Help create a welcoming and inclusive program environment
- Assist with enrichment and academic activities such as homework help, arts, science, sports, and creative projects
- Model positive behavior and promote teamwork and respect
- Take accurate attendance and support program recordkeeping
- Participate in school events and special enrichment opportunities
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and engaging program space
What You’ll Need
- Minimum age of 18
- Education: 48 completed college units or passing score on the Instructional Aide Exam (support available if needed)
- Certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED within 30 days of hire (free training provided)
- Clearances: DOJ and FBI background checks
