Job Title: Facilities Operations Technician (Temporary – 2 Month Assignment)
Status: Part-Time (Hourly, Non-Exempt)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Pay Rate: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour
Reports To: Superintendent

POSITION SUMMARY
The Facilities Operations Technician plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and overall functionality of the YMCA of Yonkers’ six-story facility. This includes community program spaces, administrative offices, and a 75-unit Single Room Occupancy (SRO) residence.
This position supports daily building operations through hands-on maintenance, environmental services, inspections, event support, and work order completion. The Facilities Operations Technician ensures the facility remains clean, safe, and welcoming for residents, members, staff, and guests.
This role reports to the Superintendent and works collaboratively with the Building Engineer and Facilities team to maintain high standards of facility care and operational excellence.
This is a temporary position expected to last approximately two months, with potential for extension based on organizational needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Building Maintenance and Operations
- Perform daily inspections and walkthroughs to ensure safety, cleanliness, and proper building function
- Complete work orders related to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC support, painting, and general maintenance
- Assist the Building Engineer with preventive maintenance and system upkeep
- Maintain fitness equipment and support routine inspections
- Support vendor access and coordination as directed
- Document completed work in the Zoho Desk system
Cleaning and Environmental Services
- Perform routine and deep cleaning of program areas, locker rooms, restrooms, hallways, stairwells, and residential common areas
- Sanitize high-touch surfaces and equipment
- Manage trash removal, recycling, and supply restocking
- Respond to spills, leaks, and other urgent cleaning situations
- Support event setup and breakdown
- Ensure cleanliness standards are consistently maintained
Safety and Emergency Response
- Respond promptly to maintenance issues and urgent facility needs
- Assist during emergencies such as alarms, leaks, or system failures
- Report hazards and take corrective action when possible
- Participate in safety trainings and drills
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with Facilities leadership to ensure coverage and task completion
- Participate in team meetings and safety briefings
- Maintain professionalism in public-facing areas
Other Duties as Assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2–3 years of experience in facilities maintenance or related field preferred
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and general repairs
- Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and maintenance tools
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including bending and standing
- OSHA 10 certification preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days
- Ability to obtain additional certifications as required
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Work performed in a six-story mixed-use facility with residential and program spaces
- Frequent movement throughout the building, including stairs and mechanical areas
- Ability to perform physical labor in various environments
