Job Description

The Health & Wellness Director leads health & wellness programming for the branch, ensuring our cause and culture is instilled in our strategy and staff development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent
- At least 1 year supervisory experience in customer service and/or fitness training or instruction
- Demonstrated success leading member-focused or equivalent team
- Demonstrated leadership, dependability & flexibility in work hours
- Complete within 30 days of hire: YMCA cause & culture training; branch-specific training; BLS CPR; First Aid; Emergency Oxygen Administration (provided by YMCA)
- Complete within 90 days of hire & maintained consistently: YMCA program-specific certifications and current nationally recognized Group Exercise and/or Personal Training Certification
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check
- Follow youth boundaries policies and abuse risk management training.
- Report suspicious behavior, policy violations, and adhere to mandated abuse reporting and responsibilities.
- Complete all required abuse prevention training prior to first shift.
- Screen, train, and enforce abuse prevention policies for staff.
- Promote a reporting culture, address violations, and maintain confidentiality.
- Ensure compliance with mandated reporting and communicate zero tolerance to all staff.

- Office/recreational environment. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking are required.
- Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program.
- Hours will include evening and weekend work.
- Reliable transportation and travel among local branches will be required.
- Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and YMCA objectives.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Develops, models and integrates systems and practices that encourage and sustain positive relationships and retention of members/participants.
- Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Manages payroll related transactions and monitor for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete. Maintains/keeps current personal certification requirements.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, organizes and schedules program registrations.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Works with staff teams to continually improve member/participant engagement and experience.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates program quality and enrollment.
- Actively participates in branch, department and association staff meetings and/or related trainings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
