What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer - CCO Summer Camp position at YMCA OF THE ROCKIES?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Summer Camp General Volunteer plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations and activities of the camp. This position is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic, flexible, and passionate about working with children in an outdoor, team-oriented environment. Volunteers assist staff in delivering a safe, fun, and enriching experience for campers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS FOR ALL CAMP CHIEF OURAY TEAM MEMBERS:
- Create a safe space for all campers, families, and staff. Promote safe work practices to allow for development and growth for all.
- Possess the mental, social, and emotional skills necessary to build rapport and positive relationships.
- Respond to camper and customer requests for service, troubleshoot problems and develop solutions in a patient and respectful manner.
- Contribute to a cooperative and positive camp community, be a team player.
- Be responsible for the upkeep of the camp facility and cleanliness of camp. Report any repairs in a timely manner.
- Assist other departments as needed
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS FOR A STORE VOLUNTEER:
- Assist with the setup, supervision, and cleanup of camp activities, games, and events
- Support counselors in managing camper groups and transitions between activities
- Help maintain a clean and organized camp environment
- Provide positive role modeling and encourage camper participation
- Monitor camper safety and report any concerns to staff
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to stand in one place for lengthy periods of time
- Must be able to read and understand English
- Must be able to work mornings, evenings, holidays and weekends

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Regularly lift up to 50 pounds up to four (4) feet high
- Be able to stand up to eight (8) hours a day
- Short bursts of stooping, kneeling, and bending.
