The YMCA of Silicon Valley is seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Teen Adventure Counselor. This dynamic role involves leading groups of up to 12 teen campers on outdoor adventures, creating engaging experiences that foster growth, teamwork, and a love for the outdoors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute outdoor programs, including hiking, camping, and other activities
- Lead groups of teen campers in a variety of settings, promoting teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Develop and implement leadership activities, games, and exercises to promote camper engagement and fun
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for all campers and staff
- Work collaboratively with the tripping director to ensure a smooth and successful program
Requirements:
- Experience working with youth in a group setting
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to hike with full backpacking supplies and participate in physical activities
- CPR and First Aid certification (can be obtained upon hire)
- Flexibility and maturity, with ability to work independently and as part of a team
