Job Purpose:
Key Responsibilities:
- The Playground Lead Supervisor at YMCA of Reading & Berks County is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the playground facilities, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for children and families. This role involves supervising staff, coordinating activities, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage playground staff, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate activities and programs for children.
- Ensure the safety and cleanliness of the playground area, conducting regular inspections and addressing any maintenance issues promptly.
- Enforce playground rules and policies, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all participants.
- Coordinate with parents and guardians to address any concerns or feedback regarding playground operations.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and inventory of playground equipment and supplies.
- Collaborate with other YMCA departments to promote and integrate playground activities into broader community programs.
- Provide training and development opportunities for playground staff to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents promptly, following YMCA protocols and procedures.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging participation and enjoyment for all children and families.
Required Education:

Required Skills and Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field is preferred.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a playground, childcare, or educational setting.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities for children.
- Experience in managing a team and coordinating schedules.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with children, parents, and staff.
- Ability to create a safe and engaging environment for children.
- Proficiency in conflict resolution and problem-solving.
- Knowledge of child development principles and practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
