What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Watch Lead position at YMCA of Pierce & Kitsap Counties?
Position: Child Watch Lead
Wage: $18.24 to $18.69 per hour (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)
Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week
Location: Tom Taylor Family YMCA, Gig Harbor, WA
As a Child Watch Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe, caring, and fun learning environment for children ages 6 weeks to 7 years while parents are utilizing the YMCA facilities.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
- Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.
- High school graduate or equivalent (preferred).
- One year or more of related experience (preferred).
- Previous experience working with children of all ages preferably in a program setting and diverse populations.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem solving skills.
- Knowledge and skills in program activities and related office equipment, and the ability to instruct youth classes in sports, games, and activities.
- Possess the knowledge and skills needed to support youth staff and classes.
- Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications (preferred)
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe, caring, and fun learning environment for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years while parents are utilizing the YMCA facilities.
- Assist and support the supervision of the Child Watch program under the directions of the Program Director.
- Provide a quality experience focused on YMCA core values of Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Caring.
