The YMCA of Orange County is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are actively seeking highly engaged, intentional, and service-oriented individuals for part-time Track & Field Coach positions.
The Track & Field Coach will build a supportive and unified team culture, guiding athletes through programming that encourages growth, resilience, and passion for the sport. This role is a profound opportunity to directly impact the lives of the communities we serve by fostering genuine connections, practicing exceptional hospitality, and creating a safe, positive, and enriching environment where every interaction is meaningful. Coaches will be based at the Mission Viejo Family YMCA or Laguna Niguel YMCA and will travel to different elementary school sites to lead practices.
Location: Mission Viejo and Laguna Niguel Elementary School Sites
Work Schedule: Coaches will work the below practice hours with additional time before and after practice to pick up and return equipment. Will be required to work some weekends for events as needed. Opportunity to work additional hours before and/or after practice in our Child and Youth Development department.
- General practice hours available:
- Monday 3:00pm - 4:00pm
- Wednesday 3:00pm - 4:00pm
- Thursday 3:00pm - 4:00pm
Purpose and Impact:
- Be a Mentor:
- Guide youth in building confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship while developing fundamental skills for success on and off the field.
- Facilitate Participant Experience:
- Lead participants through registration and check-in with professionalism, communicate schedules and program details clearly, and ensure every athlete feels prepared and supported.
- Inspire Positive Engagement:
- Encourage athletes to embrace sportsmanship and collaboration while fostering a positive, motivating environment that promotes learning and personal development.
- Build Positive Connections:
- Engage with youth and families to foster a friendly atmosphere, answer questions, and create a space that encourages open communication and lasting connections.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum Age: 18 years.
- Experience & Skills:
- Experience in coaching or competing in Track & Field preferred.
- Must be able to work with elementary age children.
- Experience in customer service preferred.
- Excellent communication, organization, and planning skills.
- Certifications:
- First Aid and CPR certifications required (training provided and paid for by the YMCA).
