Position Summary

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development,

healthy living and social responsibility. Interacts with new and existing members on the wellness floor. Creates a welcoming

environment for all members of all backgrounds and abilities.

Essential Functions

• Teaches effective, safe, and enjoyable exercise using proper exercise progressions.
• Demonstrates clear explanations and exercise material with proper form and technique.
• Develops positive relationships with participants and provides motivational support and guidance.
• Encourages member involvement and identifies potential volunteers as well as maintaining positive community relations
• Increases participant awareness of all healthy lifestyle factors.
• Operates all equipment properly and promptly reports any problems.
• Performs routine maintenance of equipment and fitness center to ensure cleanliness.
• Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures. Completes incident and accident
  
  

reports as necessary.

• Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
• Attends all staff meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Certifications: ASHI Basic Life Support (ASHI CPR Pro), First Aid.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Must complete required Y-USA trainings within first 30 days of employment.
