TIMES & DAYS - Hours available Monday - Friday.  During the school year this could include a split shift working in the morning from 6:15am - until school starts (varies by location) and in the afternoon from school dismissal (varies by location) - 6:00pm, with time allocated in the middle of the day for administration and training.  Hours could range between 30-40 hours per week.

We’re looking for a Full-Time Out of School Time Site Supervisor to lead our program right in the school setting.

This split-shift role includes:
• Before & after school programming
• Midday administrative and planning time
• Leading staff and creating engaging, inclusive activities

You’ll play a key role in helping students feel safe, supported, and inspired every day.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Manager, the Site Supervisor, Out-of-School Time (OST) provides day-to-day leadership for high-quality before-school, after-school, school break, and summer camp programming. This position is responsible for overall site operations, staff supervision and development, participant safety, program quality, family engagement, and facility stewardship.

The Site Supervisor leads a team of program staff, aides, program leads, and unit leads to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where youth can learn, grow, and belong. This leader builds strong relationships with families, school partners, and staff while ensuring program excellence aligned with YMCA standards and values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

This role is equal parts people leader, youth development leader, and operational leader, requiring strong communication, sound judgment, and the ability to lead dynamic programming across the school year and summer seasons.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Onboard, train, coach, and supervise program staff, aides, program leads, and unit leads to ensure high performance and positive staff culture.
  • Conduct regular staff check-ins, performance coaching, and accountability conversations to support development and program excellence.
  • Develop staffing schedules and ensure adequate coverage to maintain licensing, safety, and quality standards.
  • Build positive relationships with families, address concerns professionally, and serve as a visible leader at the site.
  • Maintain accurate records, attendance, incident reporting, and operational documentation in accordance with YMCA and regulatory standards.
  • Lead implementation of high-quality programming that supports youth development, belonging, and enrichment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is performed in classrooms, school facilities, recreation spaces, outdoor program areas, and community-based environments during before-school, after-school, school break, and summer camp programming.
  • Regular interaction with children, families, staff, volunteers, school personnel, and community partners in a fast-paced, youth-centered environment.
  • Frequent transitions between administrative work, staff supervision, participant engagement, family communication, and active on-site leadership throughout the workday.
  • Moderate to high noise levels typical of active youth programming, recreation activities, and camp environments.
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, sunlight/UV exposure, rain, snow, cold temperatures, and changing seasonal conditions.
  • Work environment requires flexibility, responsiveness, and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a safe, welcoming, and inclusive atmosphere.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to remain actively engaged throughout the workday, including regularly sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and moving between program areas and facilities.

  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, and move supplies, materials, or equipment up to 25-35 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, observe participant behavior and environmental conditions, and respond appropriately to routine and emergency situations.
  • Ability to actively supervise and participate in indoor and outdoor youth programming, including recreation activities, field experiences, and emergency response situations.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in education, recreation, human services, youth development, business, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in youth development, school-age programming, camp, recreation, education, or related nonprofit/community programming; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop staff while fostering a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and conflict-resolution skills with the ability to work effectively with youth, families, staff, school partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, belonging, and serving diverse communities.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during school breaks or summer camp operations, as program needs require.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification required, or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Proficiency with common technology platforms used for communication, scheduling, reporting, and program operations preferred.
