SCHEDULE - Monday - Friday 3:00 - 9:00 PM 

Position Summary

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Program Engagement Representative – Teen Programs is responsible for building strong, authentic relationships with teen participants and their families while supporting the planning, promotion, and delivery of high-quality teen programs. This role is critical in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment that promotes youth development, leadership, and community involvement in alignment with the YMCA's mission and core values.

Essential Functions

  1. Assist in planning, organizing, and leading teen programs and events including afterschool activities, leadership clubs, college/career readiness workshops, volunteer projects, and recreational activities. 
  1. Actively engage with teens to build positive, supportive relationships and promote participation in YMCA programs. 
  1. Monitor teen spaces to ensure a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment. 
  1. Serve as a role model and mentor, promoting character development, healthy habits, and responsible behavior. 
  1. Support program outreach and engagement efforts by connecting with local schools, community partners, and parents. 
  1. Maintain accurate attendance records, behavior reports, and participant data in accordance with YMCA standards. 
  1. Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure consistent, high-quality program delivery. 
  1. Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities. 
  1. Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding program needs, challenges, and successes. 
  1. Maintain a clean and safe YMCA. Take initiative to clean up and repair areas.  
  1. Be dressed in appropriate attire and wear a nametag at all times.  
  1. Attend and remain current on all mandatory training and staff meetings.  
  1. Ensure a culture of inclusion that builds and celebrates diversity within the Y and our community.  
  1. Any other duties as assigned. 
  1. Be a champion for the YMCA.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust. 
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.  
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends based on program needs.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Minimum age 18. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in youth development, education, social work, or related field preferred. 
  • Prior experience working with teens in a school, camp, community, or youth program setting. 
  • Ability to connect with diverse populations and demonstrate cultural competency. 
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and leadership skills are important. 
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire). 
  • Strong customer service, problem solving, and communication skills with the ability to relate well to staff, volunteers, members, and the public
  • Knowledge of facility and equipment management.
