What are the responsibilities and job description for the NC Pre-K Lead Teacher position at YMCA of Greensboro?
POSITION SUMMARY
The NC PreK Lead Teacher is responsible for carrying out all duties in accordance with NC Division of Child Development and Early Education Child Care Licensing Standards as well as NC Pre-K Program Requirements by providing a quality environment in which each child's growth and development is assured. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greensboro is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character – caring, honestly, respect, and responsibility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. To develop and execute an on-going program of activities that contribute to the care, growth and development of children.
2. To supervise and evaluate co-teachers and volunteers.
3. To maintain a physical environment which conforms to defined program standards.
4. Organize classroom space into functional areas that are recognizable by children and adults.
5. To observe physical conditions of children and make referrals of suspected child abuse to Site Coordinator and report incident appropriately.
6. Work jointly with the NC Pre-K Teacher Assistant to develop and deliver daily lesson plans that align with curriculum goals and address the individual needs of children. Utilize a variety of instructional formats, including individual, small-group, and large-group activities, while ensuring all documentation and reports are accurate and submitted on time.
7. To provide constant supervision of all enrolled children and maintain appropriate classroom management techniques.
8. To ensure that needed supplies and equipment are available, and that all resources (including volunteers, community resources, and field trips) are used appropriately for classroom enrichment.
9. To attend all required meetings and training events in order to strengthen skills and upgrade professional growth
10. To maintain a professional relationship with guardians/parents and staff while maintaining confidentiality of information related to parents and children.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No direct supervision of staff, however, provides performance feedback to the direct supervisor of assistant teacher as needed.
