You’ll engage children in activities like games, music, movement, and storytelling while maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create a welcoming, joyful atmosphere for all children and families.
- Build relationships by actively engaging with children through play, conversation, and care routines.
- Support daily operations: assist with snacks, bottle-feeding, cleaning/sanitizing toys, and maintaining an organized space.
- Model and uphold the ymca’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
- Actively supervise children at all times to ensure safety.
- Communicate positively with parents and caregivers.
- Participate in staff training to continually grow in knowledge and service.
- Take initiative to ensure children feel seen, valued, and supported.
- Minimum age: 16
- Experience with children ages 6 months to 12 years preferred.
- Cpr/first aid certification required (available through the ymca).
- Completion of ymca child abuse prevention training within first week.
- A natural love for children and a nurturing spirit.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Awareness and attentiveness to ensure a safe environment.
- Flexibility and energy to meet the needs of children in a fast-paced setting.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Able to move quickly to ensure child safety.
- Visual acuity for close and distance supervision.
