Job Title: Out-of-School Time (OST) Summer Camp Staff
Program Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00am-6:00pm
Position Summary
The YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo offers full day summer camp at multiple locations in both
Portage and Kalamazoo. Summer camp staff will work with Site Specialists and Lead Teachers
to create a high-quality program at a designated camp site. Staff will provide direct supervision to
youth while modeling our core values of integrity, collaboration, diversity, and health.

Essential Functions
- Work with site team to ensure program runs smoothly and efficiently each day.
- Facilitate educational and engaging activities for children ages 3-12.
- Develop and demonstrate knowledge of childcare licensing requirements.
- Ensure program records are complete and kept confidential as required.
- Develop relationships with youth and families to ensure open communication is maintained throughout the summer.
- Commit to expanding your skills and knowledge with required and recommended trainings.
- Remain current in CPR and First Aid to be able to appropriately handle emergency situations.
- Ensure all youth are safe from abuse and as required by Michigan law, report any suspected incidence of child abuse or neglect to your supervisor and Children’s Protective Services (1-855-444-3911).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience with youth is preferred
- CPR and First Aid certifications must be obtained within the first 30 days of hire.
- Must be able to participate in activities with youth
- Daily cleaning to maintain a safe and healthy space
