Responsibilities
The Caylor Nickel Family YMCA is seeking a responsible and attentive Maintenance Assistant to join our team to assist in the maintenance, improvement, safety, and cleaning operations of grounds, properties, facilities, and vehicles.
- Support: Equipment repairs, hanging/removing signage, snow removal, weed killing, preventive maintenance tasks (grease bearings, replace belts, clean parts, etc.), minor plumbing, electrical, and construction, record keeping, some clerical tasks, setup/teardown for classes/events.
- Serve: Have a good mechanical aptitude, a focus on safety, good communication skills, and be comfortable working independently as well as in a team.
- Care: Ensure a safe and secure environment both within and around the facility.
Requirements
Candidates must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne as well as:
- At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of facility maintenance experience.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas preferred.
- This position requires the ability to read and follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and product labels.
- Reliable transportation to attend work.
- Ability to relate to, welcome, and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.
Salary: Part-time $13.50-$14.00 hourly
