What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teen Staff/Junior Counselor (age 16/17)-Camp Ernst YMCA position at YMCA of Greater Cincinnati?
Key Responsibilities:
- Live in a cabin and work cooperatively with fellow staff to maintain a clean, safe, and supportive living environment that promotes belonging and teamwork.
- Assist in planning and leading camp programs, cabin activities, and daily routines while ensuring camper safety, engagement, and positive experiences.
- Actively support supervision of campers throughout the day, including meals, activities, evening programs, and morning and nighttime routines.
- Serve as a positive role model by encouraging personal growth, positive character development, and respectful relationships among campers and staff.
- Follow and enforce all camp rules, policies, and schedules, remaining on time and on duty to support achievement and accountability.
- Care for program spaces, equipment and supplies, and report maintenance needs to appropriate staff.
- Communicate concerns related to camper behavior, safety, or group dynamics to Cabin Counselors, Unit Leaders, or administrative staff.
- Participate in staff training, meetings, camper check-in/check-out, and other duties necessary to ensure smooth and safe camp operations
- Adhere to established association standards.

Qualifications
- Minimum age 16.
- Ability to work and live cooperatively with staff and campers in a residential camp setting.
- Dependable, responsible, and able to follow camp policies, schedules, and supervision expectations.
- Ability to build positive relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds while practicing cultural humility.
- YMCA Child Abuse Prevention training completed.
