Parent + Play Staff - Powel Crosley, Jr. YMCA

Key Responsibilities

·       Lead and support Parent Play sessions for children ages 0–5 and their caregivers

·       Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment that encourages play, learning, and social interaction

·       Help manage and supervise groups of young children during activities and free play

·       Support parents and caregivers by encouraging positive interactions and peer connections

·       Assist with facilitating parent conversations, discussions, or group check-ins when needed

·       Work collaboratively with volunteers, providing guidance and support during sessions

·       Assist with setup, cleanup, and organization of play materials and learning spaces

·       Observe and respond to the needs of children and families with patience and care

·       Uphold program policies, safety guidelines, and best practices for early childhood environments

Qualifications

·       Enjoys and has experience working with children ages 0–5

·       Energetic, friendly, and approachable demeanor

·       Strong communication and interpersonal skills

·       Comfortable engaging with parents/caregivers and supporting group discussions

·       Ability to manage small groups of children in a calm and positive manner

·       Experience working with volunteers or in team-based settings preferred

·       Dependable, flexible, and organized

·       Background or interest in early childhood education, family engagement, or community programming is a plus
