This role centers on providing field oversight for HVD initiatives, with a strong emphasis on planning, quality control, reporting, and coordination across contract crews working on grid investment and modernization efforts.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in overhead distribution construction, a deep understanding of APC (Alabama Power Company) distribution systems and work practices, and the ability to lead and support tactical field planning and project execution.
Key Responsibilities
High Volume Deployment (HVD) Oversight:
- Serve as the lead field representative for HVD projects, ensuring safe and efficient execution by contracted grid investment crews.
- Conduct site inspections, enforce compliance with work standards, and ensure high-quality construction practices.
- Assist with work planning, material logistics, and coordination across field teams and subcontractors.
- Monitor progress and contribute to daily and weekly planning to meet schedule targets.
- Prepare and deliver accurate reports on project milestones, safety performance, material use, and work quality.
- Interface with utility clients, contractors, and project managers to ensure successful deployment of HVD initiatives.
- Assist the Construction Manager in tactical coordination of field activities such as safety walks, inspections, permitting, and scope execution.
- Confirm construction is performed in accordance with design specifications and utility standards.
- Maintain daily field logs, timecards, and documentation.
- Host daily job briefings and safety meetings.
- Manage deliveries and ensure clean, organized, and compliant job sites.
- Extensive experience in overhead distribution construction, preferably with Alabama Power Company (APC) systems.
- Minimum of 7 years in utility field operations, construction inspection, or related roles.
- Strong familiarity with HVD planning, material coordination, and project QC.
- Journeyman lineman or electrician experience is a plus.
- Understanding of utility safety standards, OSHA regulations, and job site compliance practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) for reporting, documentation, and communication.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
- Ability to work in field conditions and travel to job sites.
- Bachelor's degree or relevant experience.
- Valid driver’s license required.
