We are seeking an experienced Master Metal Finisher to join our team. We offer a four-day work week, Monday through Thursday, a modern climate-controlled fabrication facility and a great benefits plan including three weeks off first year, plus 12 holidays, 401k match and tuition reimbursement. Position Summary:

The Master Metal Finisher is responsible for performing advanced finishing and fabrication work on custom metal components, assemblies, and packaged systems. This position requires expert knowledge of grinding, polishing, blending, and weld finishing to achieve specified cosmetic and functional standards. The Master Metal Finisher plays a critical role in ensuring that system frames (skids) and piping hangers meet expected quality requirements.

Responsibilities:

Perform advanced finishing operations including polishing, grinding, sanding, buffing, and blending on stainless steel and other metals.

May perform any or all the following finishing and fabrication tasks for custom packaged systems.

Cutting, grinding, and preparing frame stock and hangers.

Weld removal and finishing of system frames and piping hangers, from rough grinding through to final specified surface finish.

In-place polishing of hangers and supports on skid frames.

Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and finish specifications to achieve required surface quality.

Inspect completed work for accuracy, quality, and compliance with cosmetic and dimensional requirements.

Collaborate with engineers, designers, and fabricators to improve finishing processes and ensure manufacturability.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by continually attending training classes as required.

Ensure customer satisfaction regarding quality and timely service

Train and mentor junior finishers on proper finishing techniques, tools, and safety practices.

Maintain equipment, tools, and work areas in safe, organized, and optimal working condition.

Performs other duties as assigned by Shop Manager.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 7 years of experience in metal finishing, with mastery of stainless steel and high-polish applications.
  • Advanced skill in polishing, grinding, weld removal, and cosmetic finishing.
  • Ability to consistently achieve precise, high-quality surface finishes.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with adaptability to custom or unique finishing challenges.
  • Demonstrated solid mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read, interpret and adhere to documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read and analyze blueprints, schematics, and other related engineering documents preferred.
  • Stainless process piping experience preferred.
  • Familiar with ASME-BPE standards and implementation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive tasks such as grinding and polishing.
  • Prolonged standing, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Prolonged manual, electric, and pneumatic tool use.
  • Regular use of PPE (gloves, respirator, eye/ear protection, etc.) as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
