About the Role
We are seeking a Metal Finisher that will be responsible for deburring, graining, and polishing standard metal or plastic components of various configurations. Using equipment such as, lathes, pedestal grinders, portable air/electric hand grinders and by selecting the appropriate abrasive paper or wheel to obtain the required finishing specifications.
Responsibilities of the Metal Finisher:
· Selects and sets up fixtures, positions parts in clamps and chucks on machines for deburring, graining and polishing operations.
· Selects the appropriate abrasive cloths or polishing wheels to achieve the proper finishes.
· Inspects components during the grinding and polishing operation and advises their Section Leader of defects on components such as scratches or dents which require excessive grinding.
· Dresses the pedestal polishing wheels with the appropriate compound required.
· Notifies the Section Leader when equipment is not working properly or needs to be lubricated.
· Makes recommendations for improving our operational processes and procedures to be more efficient if necessary.
· Works to current ISO standards to ensure quality products are produced.
· Maintains their finish areas in a safe, clean and orderly condition and assist in moving components as required to other work cells.
Requirements/Qualifications:
· High School diploma or equivalent required
· Experience with deburring, graining, and polishing operations (preferred, will train)
· Ability to use hand and power tools
· Ability to lift maximum of 50 pounds and stand for a four to eight-hour shift
· Desire to learn new skills and improve technical knowledge
· Commitment to quality, safety, and accuracy of work performed and continuous improvement
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
