Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to support our Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) operations within the aviation industry. This position plays a critical role in evaluating and ensuring the structural integrity of aircraft, developing repair solutions, and providing hands-on engineering support during maintenance activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aerospace structures, regulatory compliance, and hands-on experience supporting maintenance operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and analyze structural damage or discrepancies on aircraft during inspections and heavy maintenance checks.
- Develop engineering repair instructions and engineering orders (EOs) compliant with FAA/EASA regulations and OEM structural repair manuals (SRMs).
- Design and substantiate structural repairs and modifications, including static strength and fatigue/damage tolerance evaluations.
- Provide on-site support during maintenance events and coordinate real-time technical guidance for structural repairs.
- Liaise with OEMs and regulatory authorities to obtain approvals for major repairs or deviations from standard procedures.
- Prepare and review technical documentation including reports, drawings, and modification packages.
- Maintain accurate records of all engineering assessments, repair dispositions, and compliance documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in aircraft structural engineering or an MRO engineering support role.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft structural systems, composite materials, and standard repair techniques.
- Proficiency in CAD and structural analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, CATIA, NASTRAN, SolidWorks).
- Familiarity with FAA/EASA regulations and OEM documentation (e.g., Boeing, Airbus SRMs).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel as needed to support AOG and line maintenance operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
- Experience supporting both commercial and military aircraft platforms.
- Familiarity with AMOS, TRAX, or other MRO software systems.
- Knowledge of fatigue life management and damage tolerance methodologies
Work Conditions
- Primarily office-based with frequent visits to hangars or aircraft on the tarmac.
- Occasional travel required for field support or training.
- May involve working nights, weekends, or holidays during critical maintenance events.
