The Sheet Metal Modification Mechanic is responsible for performing structural repairs, modifications, and installations on aircraft in accordance with approved technical data, FAA regulations, and company procedures. This role supports heavy maintenance, alterations, and modification programs within a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform sheet metal repairs and structural modifications on aircraft, including fuselage, wings, nacelles, and control surfaces
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and Structural Repair Manuals (SRMs)
- Fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal parts, components, and sub-assemblies
- Perform drilling, cutting, bending, riveting, and fastening of metal components
- Execute modification packages (STCs, EO/EBs) in compliance with engineering and regulatory requirements
- Remove and replace damaged or worn structural components
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and company quality standards
- Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure structural integrity and compliance
- Assist in the removal/installation of avionics electrical components, fabrication of wire harnesses, installations, terminations, ring-out, and functional tests of avionics/electrical systems.
- Assist in installations, modifications, and the fabrication of wiring and electrical components, fixtures, and associated equipment in accordance with blueprints, worksheets engineering drawings
- Test avionics equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness.
- Become familiar with all technical publications (maintenance manuals, parts catalogs, airworthiness directives, service bulletins, etc.) concerning aircraft maintained at this facility.
Interpret drawings, specifications and schematics of aircraft instrument/electronic components.
Remove and install aircraft subsystem assemblies and components according to aircraft maintenance manuals and specifications.
Become familiar and proficient with all shop test and maintenance gear.
Perform all tasks assigned by management in a timely and safe manner.
Maintain a clean and neat work area. Help with other housekeeping duties as assigned.
Provide backup to line personnel when they are moving aircraft in and out of the hangers.
Other activities and projects as approved by the Director of Maintenance, Shop Foreman or the General Manager.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Education to meet licenses required (see below)
- 2-5 years in aircraft sheet metal modification
- Must meet the requirements of Airport Authority to be receive a badge and have no ramp restrictions
Communication Skills:
Must be able to read and speak English. Must be able to communicate effectively with other personnel.
Mathematical Skills:
Basic math skills.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Budget Responsibility:
Assist department managers in maintaining a specified budget.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- A & P License desired
- Must possess and maintain a current and valid driver’s license
Computer Skills:
Basic computer aptitude preferred.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Occasional periods of walking, sitting, rotation, bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
Occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs, and frequently lifting up to 10 lbs.
Work Environment
Frequent exposure to general shop conditions, engine noise.
Frequent exposure to aircraft exhaust, moving mechanical parts, lubricants, metals, and solvents.
Frequent exposure to seasonal weather.
