We are seeking an experienced Avionics Supervisor to lead maintenance operations within our FAA-certified Part 145 Repair Station. This role is responsible for overseeing avionics repair and installation activities, ensuring compliance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations, and driving team performance, safety, and quality.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead a team of avionics technicians in daily maintenance operations
- Assign, prioritize, and monitor work to meet production schedules and deadlines
- Ensure all maintenance is performed in accordance with FAA Part 145 requirements and company procedures
- Oversee troubleshooting, repair, modification, and installation of avionics systems
- Ensure proper use of technical data, manuals, and approved documentation
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance for inspections and return-to-service approvals
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Maintain strong, effective communication with other departments
- Support internal and external audits (FAA, customer, third-party)
- Promote a strong safety culture and compliance with Safety Management Systems (SMS)
- Train, mentor, and evaluate technician performance
- May be required to attend operational meetings such as Aircraft scheduling/planning and department capacity planning
- May need to support off-shift personnel
- May need to support quoting team.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Minimum 5–8 years of avionics maintenance experience
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Experience working in a FAA Part 145 Repair Station
- FAA Repairman Certificate
Certifications (Preferred)
- FAA Airframe (A) or Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License
- FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL)
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of aircraft avionics systems (communication, navigation, flight control, autopilot, Garmin, Rockwell Collins, Honeywell, Gogo, Starlink, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals
- Proficiency with avionics test equipment and troubleshooting techniques
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and attention to detail
