Position Summary:

The Director of Fundraising Events and Donor Engagement is a key role within Yeshiva University's Institutional Advancement team, responsible for the strategy, development and execution of impactful fundraising and donor-facing events that engage donors, alumni and key stakeholders in support of the University's mission and philanthropic goals. Reporting to the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Engagement Strategy, this role leads the development of high-impact event experiences-ranging from large-scale galas to alumni socials to intimate donor gatherings-that cultivate philanthropic support and elevate the University's presence in the community. The Director supervises one full-time events staff member and collaborates closely with Advancement colleagues, University leadership, vendors, and volunteers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning and execution of a portfolio of events, including but not limited to: annual fundraising galas, alumni events and reunions, board meetings and retreats and donor appreciation gatherings
  • Develop and manage detailed project timelines, event budgets, run-of-shows, vendor contracts, production plans, and contingency strategies for each event.
  • Lead site selection, vendor procurement, venue setup, catering, A/V, and all on-site logistics.
  • Ensure each event aligns with University branding, strategic messaging, and fundraising objectives.
  • Track and report on all event-related revenue and expenses.
  • Work proactively to find solutions that maximize donor satisfaction and financial impact at donor & fundraising events.
  • Work closely with Major Gifts, Annual Giving, Alumni Relations, Communications, and other teams to integrate events into larger donor engagement strategies.
  • Supervise one full-time events team staff member, providing clear direction, mentorship, and performance feedback.
  • Maintain the highest level of client service when dealing with University donors.
  • Coordinate cross-functional event teams, including Advancement and other staff and external vendors, to ensure timely and successful event execution.
  • Collaborate with fundraisers to identify and cultivate new prospects and donors
  • Evening and weekend work is required based on event scheduling.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary for off-campus event planning and coordination

Experience & Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in fundraising event planning or event production, preferably in higher education, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations.

  • Proven ability to develop and implement successful fundraising strategies and high-impact events.
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems proactively.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team, while working collaboratively across departments.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and understanding of donor relations.
  • Ability to remain calm and self-possessed in fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and budgeting skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Desire to work in a highly collaborative team-based environment.
  • Polite, friendly demeanor.
  • Proficient with technology.
