What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Boys' School Reading Teacher and Resource Room Educator position at Yeshiva Ketana of Manhattan?
We are a small school in Manhattan housed in an old, charming landmark building. Working with teachers who are passionate about teaching first and second graders and watching them become readers is dynamic. We are looking for educators who have experience teaching reading and are familiar with the science of reading. We value teachers who truly listen to what students are saying—who create a space for students to think their way through to answers and praise their insights and curiosities along the way. We value educators who hunger for professional growth and are dedicated to excellence. Candidates should be well versed in Common Core Standards and differentiated instruction, as we are a community school with heterogeneous classes of students. Our teachers embrace a positive approach to discipline. They believe in the power of family and community partnerships and commit to helping the whole child. The position requires doing assessments, working with groups in grades one and two and the possibility of being a resource room teacher for grades 3-8. This position is to teach Mondays through Thursdays from 1:00-4:30. We offer a warm environment and a competitive salary.
