What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle/High School Reading Intervention Teacher 26-27 position at Equality Charter School?
Equality Charter School is seeking a dynamic and skilled Reading Intervention Teacher who is deeply committed to meeting the literacy needs of struggling adolescent scholars. Teaching remedial reading at the middle and high school level comes with a unique set of challenges, and we are looking for an educator who knows how to build strong, trusting relationships with students while delivering effective, research-based reading instruction.
The ideal candidate is trained in teaching reading, adaptive in their approach, and brings a positive, solutions-oriented mindset to hard work. Above all, this educator is relentless in the pursuit of ensuring every student develops the skills and confidence to become a successful reader.
Responsibilities:
- Build strong, trusting relationships with struggling readers
- Design and deliver targeted small-group instruction based on student needs (including decoding, fluency, and comprehension)
- Apply the principles of the science of reading to all instructional planning and delivery
- Oversee initial literacy assessments for new scholars to identify struggling readers and determine instructional needs
- Analyze assessment data to form reading groups and develop instructional schedules
- Administer ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support literacy instruction and student success in mainstream settings
- Communicate with parents and guardians of students receiving reading intervention, as needed
- Collaborate with other Reading Intervention Teachers to ensure alignment and coherence across school divisions
- Lead or co-lead literacy-focused professional development sessions, as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with the following programs and assessments is a plus: mClass, Acadience, DIBELS, UFLI Foundations, and Ascend Smarter Intervention
Salary & Benefits:
- Bachelors only- 68k-85k
- Masters only-76k-93k
- All classroom and school-setting Reading Intervention experience will be considered
