Key Responsibilities
- Medication Administration:
- Administer medications per established policies and procedures.
- Order and maintain medication stock, ensuring inventory levels remain within limits.
- Reconcile daily medication deliveries from the pharmacy and distribute them to appropriate storage areas. Rotate stock and return outdated medications as required.
- Medical Records and Coordination:
- File completed Medication Administration Records (MARs) in patient charts.
- Notify the pharmacy of inmate transfers or releases.
- Specimen Collection and Infection Control:
- Collect and handle specimens as ordered, adhering to Universal Precaution and Infection Control procedures.
- Assist with PPD implantation, result reading, and documentation.
- Patient Care Support:
- Assist physicians and nurses with patient care, including emergency screenings with RNs to prioritize physician visits.
- Provide CPR when needed, maintaining annual certification.
- Facility Maintenance and Other Duties:
- Clean, sterilize, and secure medical equipment.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of one year in emergency or correctional services preferred.
- Certification: Valid Medical Assistant Certification is required.
- Screening: Background check, security clearance, and drug screening mandatory.
