THE OPPORTUNITY
YES Prep needs a dynamic Grants Accountant with a robust set of experiences, to make our mission a reality. As a YES Prep employee, you will achieve jaw-dropping results, create pathways to opportunity for our students, and build transformative relationships.
To put it simply, you will be responsible for post-award management of assigned federal, state and private grants, managing all the financial aspects and ensuring compliance with regulations and organizational policies. You will track expenditures, prepare financial reports, and ensure proper fund allocation.
THE ROLE
When you join the YES Prep team, some of the work and responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring and tracking the status of each assigned grant from award to close to ensure compliance, allowability of expenditures and timely submission of reporting;
- Preparing and reviewing journal entries and correcting accounting entries as needed, monitoring payroll accounting, and ensuring compliance with non-profit fund accounting, Texas public school accounting, and other requirements associated with assigned grants;
- Monitoring financial activities related to grants and providing Grants Compliance team with financial updates pertaining to fund analysis;
- Collaborating with Grants Compliance team to ensure distribution and return of Time and Effort certifications;
- Performing monthly grant analysis and providing stakeholders with periodic reports;
- Working closely with grants related program staff and finance leaders ensuring accurate financial reporting and fiscal compliance on all grants;
- Serving as one of the primary contacts for all finance requests related to assigned portfolio of Federal, State, and private grants;
- Maintaining appropriate backup for Accounting team as related to cash management, grant reporting, draws and financial reporting;
- Ensuring the accuracy of data entered into the Grants Management/Project Management module of the accounting system;
- Staying abreast of The Office of Management and Budget Circulars, EDGAR, TEA regulations and all other applicable federal, state and District laws and policies;
- Additional duties as assigned.

THE NICE TO HAVES
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred
- 2- years non-profit and fund accounting experience, strongly preferred
- Public education finance experience
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and initiatives at once
- Ability to be an Initiator, problem-solver and creative thinker

- Compensation – This position is an exempt, salaried position; offers commensurate with experience.
- Health and Supplemental Insurance – A $0 monthly medical option or a $24 monthly option that includes $50 YES Prep Paid Health Savings Account contribution, in addition to a variety of supplemental benefits including Dental, Vision, Disability, Life, etc. Employees must work 20 hours a week to be eligible for a full spectrum of benefits, and 10 hours a week minimum for medical benefits.
